The Lost Art of Gifting and How To Do It Right

The Lost Art of Gifting and How To Do It Right

‘Tis the season to be jolly! And what brings more joy to someone than giving or receiving a well thought present? Gifting is an art in itself and a good one can get you on the recipient’s list of memorable “best gift’s ever”. So, how do you choose the perfect luxe festive gift without having to rely on Santa sliding down the chimney?

To make this holiday season easier for you, here are a few tips that might help.

Listening is key

Whether it’s a close friend, family, or a colleague - try to walk back through the various conversations you’ve had with them. Look for clues. Was there anything specific they mentioned that they would love to own, experience, or were generally excited about? Take that as your cue and even if it may not be the same thing try to find a close alternative.

Consider if there have been recent life changes

People might change, their environments might change, their needs and desires may evolve…take your cue from recent life “happenings”. Have they recently bought a home? Had a baby? Bought a pet? Grieved the loss of a loved one? Each of these situations may allow for you to pick things that show you care about what they are experiencing and are there for/ with them.

Indulge them!

Life gets busy, to-do lists take over and taking care of self might slide to the bottom of that list. So consider indulging them with something they’ll probably never buy on their own. A case in point – how many of the men on your list would make the time to visit a spa for a deep-tissue massage? Or buy themselves a deep-cleansing, indulgent face mask (our Broadway Bright Detox Mask provides instant brightening and is great for all skin types). Feeling like gifting them something (wayyyyyy) more fancy? How about an exotic car rental?

Sentimental vs utilitarian? Why not both!

We love a good sentimental gift, but oftentimes they aren’t exactly useful. A utilitarian gift may be more practical, but it’ll lack that special touch that you often look for during the holiday season. So where are we going with this? Choose something that does both. Like a gift card at Project Gaia NY – where you can #shopwithpurpose while discovering a range of beautiful art, apparel, self-care/ wellness, accessories and home goods that are created by brands / businesses that are conscious and sustainable. And if that wasn’t enough, you can also feel good about supporting small businesses.

Consider an experiential gift

Gift ideas for the tea lover in your life? You can’t go wrong with a sampling of fine and rare teas, but how about a stay at a working tea estate? Our Amrutini® Collection includes anti-oxidant rich Silver Tips Imperial tea from Makaibari Estates. The tea is only plucked on certain full moon nights when the alignment of celestial bodies enhances the concentration of flavors in the leaves. Magical Makaibari, nestled in the foothills of the mighty Himalayas, is the oldest tea estate in India. The estate also has a luxury hotel and spa that tea lovers (and their friends) can stay at while soaking up all things tea.

De-risk…

Pro tip: Opt for a crowd-pleaser. Our Amrutini® Precious Potion is great for gifting, with all-natural, non-toxic ingredients and free from synthetic fragrances, it's one of our best-selling products that is gender-neutral and leaves skin stronger, firmer and glowing.

If you’ve put a lot of thought, but are still struggling for the perfect item, a thoughtfully curated gift set might come in handy, especially one that incorporates a few eclectic treasures – so they’re bound to love some (if not all) the components. When in doubt, make it a set.
